DBA Programme Information Event and Masterclass

DBA Information Event:
The Audencia DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) will launch in Paris in December 2019. On 20th June 2019 Professor Rhona Johnsen, the DBA Programme Director will discuss the DBA programme experience at an information evening. The evening also includes a short DBA masterclass by Dr Yuliya Shymko who teaches on the DBA programme.
 
About the DBA:
Participants join the DBA programme to study for a Doctorate after obtaining a Master degree and having a significant number of years of executive-level experience. The DBA programme duration is 3 years involving taught doctoral-level courses and supervision of a research project supported by academic supervisors.
  • Training duration: approximately 12 blocked weekends of face-to-face training over the duration of the programme (most courses are delivered in 2-3 days in the first 18 months)
  • Eligibility criteria: MBA or Master degree + 5 years professional experience including managerial responsibilities. Minimum 25 years of age. Exceptionally candidates with 3-4 years experience may be considered.

DBA Masterclass by Dr Yuliya Shymko
“In this seminar I will touch upon the question of motivation and impact of academic research. Notwithstanding the importance of scientific rigour in dealing with the big questions of our time and puzzles of nature, it is crucial to reflect on what drives, triggers and informs our quest for discovery. The central theme of the seminar focuses on researcher's ability to have an impact on the world, which is defined as willingness to use one's curiosity and engagement to offer a new way of seeing to others”. 

A short bio:
Yuliya Shymko is an Associate professor of Management at Audencia Business School, France and a visiting professor of Globalization and Business Ethics at IE University, Spain. She has a helpful mix of academic and managerial backgrounds. Trained as an economist with the specialization in international relations, she has also dedicated her time to research the socio-political and cultural reality of post-Soviet Republics in affiliation with the University of Alberta (Canada) and the World Bank. Her work has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Harvard Business Review, and Management Decision. Her current academic interests include relational ethics, vulnerability, institutional work, and corporate philanthropy in cultural industries.
