Webinar: Becoming a better boss

Many talented people trip up when they move from doing work themselves to managing people and teams. According to London Business School professor Julian Birkinshaw we face a “knowing-doing” gap as managers.  We know from our experience as employees how we want to be managed. The problem is that doing the right things as a manager – and doing them consistently - is hard.

In this webinar, we will review what good management looks like and explore techniques we can all use to be a better boss more of the time.  We will cover:

  • The most common bad management habits
  • How to use a “stop doing” list and plan ahead for risky situations
  • How to get real feedback (and who is best placed to give it)
  • Ways to avoid micro-management and give up control
  • How to use management experiments to discover and embed good practice.
We will also examine how organisations can learn these lessons and deal with perverse incentives which encourage dysfunctional management.
