Webinar: Steve Dalton on connecting with your next employer

Most jobs are not advertised: they are filled via referrals and networks. But most of us find selling ourselves and networking uncomfortable and don’t know how to build contacts with target employers. Too often we retreat into “busy work”: Plenty of activity, lots of applications, but no results.

The solution is not to attend more events or learn to “pitch” ourselves better. The answer, developed by Steve Dalton (in his bestselling job-search guide The 2-Hour Job Search) is a different approach: a detailed process for turning strangers into advocates, leading to new networks, more referrals and interviews and ultimately more and better job offers.

In the new edition of The 2-Hour Job Search (coming in April 2020) Steve explains the precise type of outreach (the “6-point email”) that is most effective for making new contacts in your job search. Steve’s strategy will allow you to:

  • Find people working in your target industry (and at particular employers)
  • Reach out to them in a brief email (less than 75 words)
  • Determine who will help you and who won’t
  • Secure informational meetings (on the phone or in person)
  • Build a network of advocates ready to refer you for jobs as they come up.

In this webinar we will cover the key techniques you need to master to make this contact strategy work for you. For those familiar with the method already. Steve has updated advice on emailing potential new employers to share and will show how to make this type of contact as effective as possible.
