AMBA Career Connections Online Forum

AMBA, The Association of MBAs, & BGA is partnering with Hult International Business School's Career Development and Employer Relations team to deliver its annual Career Connections Online Forum

On Thursday 2 April 2020, we will welcome a selection of prestigious employers to connect with students and recent graduates from both Hult International Business School and the wider MBA Community to network online.

The Forum is a unique opportunity for jobseekers and prospective interns to meet professionals across industries, gain valuable business insights, take part in thought-provoking discussions about the future of work, build their professional networks and make valuable connections with top companies.

This event will feature a range of multinationals, start-ups and medium-sized companies looking to hire for internships, experienced hire and graduate positions.

MBA students are invited to join the exclusive panel session about The Future of Work, which will last one hour and will be followed by 40-minute group chats with the panellists. There will be a five-minute break in between sessions.

Agenda (PARIS TIME / GMT+1)
  • 13:00-14:00 MBA Panel session
  • 14:05-14:45 Session 1
  • 14:50-15:30 Session 2
  • 15:35-16:15 Session 3
  • 16:20-17:00 Session 4
  • 17:05-17:45 Session 5

The sessions will be moderated by Hult International Business School staff, so all you need to do is log into your desired session – or all of them.

In order to make the most of the sessions, when you register for the event, you will be required to answer one of the questions below on the session themes (no more than 100 words):
  • To what extent do you think the careers to which we aspire, are under threat of being taken over by AI?
  • To what extent do you think it’s time we stopped talking about ‘female’ leadership or ‘BAME’ leadership and just started talking about leadership?
  • What needs to change in business, for society to trust in its ability to make a positive difference in the world?

Preparation
  • Practice your elevator pitch so you can easily reply when asked ‘tell me about yourself?’
  • Conduct thorough research on each company that interests you
  • It is up to you to thoroughly research each company, attendee, and industry to make yourself stand out

Consider the following when conducting research
  • Carefully review the company website. What is their mission statement, product offerings and upcoming projects?
  • What can you gather about their company culture?  Would it be a good fit for you?
  • Look into the corporate attendee’s professional background. You want to be personable AND professional. LinkedIn is an excellent place to start.
  • Search for recent news articles about the companies in which you’re interested. Have they won any awards?
  • Practice makes perfect. Rehearse common interview questions and your S.T.A.R. (situation, task, action, result) stories. Don’t let difficult questions catch you off guard.
  • And most importantly – tie in your research to your skills.  How do they line up?

Remember
When you are networking with employers, you are a brand ambassador for yourself and your Business School. Please be respectful, friendly and well-prepared, to make the best impression.  You will need a reliable internet connection to take part.
