AACSB recognises Audencia Business School alumnus Damien Verdier as 2018 Influential Leader
Third annual Influential Leaders Challenge celebrates 29 change-makers and their impact on global issues Today, AACSB celebrated the positive impact business school graduates are making in communities around the globe as part of the 2018 Influential Leaders Challenge. As an annual initiative, the challenge honours notable alumni from AACSB-accredited schools such as Audencia whose inspiring work serves as a model for the next generation of business leaders. Audencia’s alumnus Damien Verdier was recognised at AACSB’s 2018 Deans Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, among a group of 29 business pioneers, from 13 industry sectors, whose careers are addressing today’s most pressing social, economic, environmental, and educational challenges. Damien Verdier (GE 79) serves as Group Chief Strategy, Organization, Development, Research & Innovation Officer with Sodexo and is also president of the International Food Waste Coalition. “Each honoree from the 2018 class of Influential Leaders reflects the mindset, knowledge, and passion that impactful business leaders must embody to impart positive change in today’s society,” said Thomas R. Robinson, president and CEO of AACSB. “We would like to thank Damien Verdier for demonstrating the true excellence and leadership we wish to see in the world, and we congratulate Audencia Business School for their role in helping to mould a new generation of global business leaders dedicated to driving impact that results in global prosperity.” Damien Verdier and his peers in the 2018 Influential Leaders class were recognised across three categories, including: Alumni Business Leaders Working in Nonprofit or Community-Based Organisations Alumni Business Leaders Advancing Diversity and Inclusion Business Leaders Influencing Business Education “I have carried out my professional career with growing responsibilities at both national and international levels.” says Damien Verdier. “I was able to occupy a number of positions, mostly operational, in France up to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Sodexo France. Then, internationally, my positions were more focused on functional areas. In short, all these responsibilities were very diverse and highly enriching. Sodexo has accompanied me on this journey and is fundamentally committed to strong values and mission. It has been part of an incredible story and in the space of 50 years has become the world leader and largest French employer in the World. I'm proud of this recognition from AACSB which echoes Sodexo's values, my values and Audencia's values.” For more information on the Influential Leaders Challenge, and to view a full list of honorees, visit www.aacsb.edu/influential-leaders.

Reconnecting with the network, sharing experiences, becoming an alumni ambassador
With Audencia Alumni, graduates choose their level of involvement Martin Manecy (MOS 06) had been working in London for nearly 4 years when he decided to reconnect with Audencia’s alumni community. “I saw an afterwork reunion in London on the school’s alumni platform and decided to go along. It was really interesting – about 15 alumni and some staff from Audencia were there and I caught up on news from Nantes”, he says. Following the afterwork in London, Martin connected with Anna Gerke, head of the MS MOS, sport management programme. Their subsequent discussions resulted in Martin returning to Audencia in September for a networking session with current MS MOS students. “I’m a senior Event Manager for Formula-E Operations, an FIA single-seater championship and the world's first fully-electric racing series” he says. “Coming to share my experience and present my company was very enjoyable” says Martin. “Formula-E has evolved from being a start-up to an international automobile championship and a competitor of Formula 1 racing. My professional path has shown me that you can follow your instincts and stick with what you believe will work for you”. The warm welcome from Anna and the MS MOS students convinced Martin to do more within the network. He has since become class ambassador for the 2006 MS MOS cohort and joined in the celebrations for the 25-year anniversary of the programme at the end of November 2017. “The network is what you make of it” says Martin, “the more you put into it, the more you get out of it”.
