Following Monday’s fire that almost destroyed the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, alumni from Audencia began sharing their pictures and memories of the building that symbolises so much for so many people.

The images speak for themselves:

But words too.
Here are some of the messages from our alumni.

  • Sotheary Nouv (MBA 15) from Cambodia: "You were built with such a fantastic concept and design for the world's recognition. You are forever in my memory, Notre Dame"
  • Shachi Mody (IMM 10) from India: "Notre Dame is more than what it is to history and locals. With Notre Dame in the background, bells ringing, walking by the Seine, strolling around the Book shops and having “pain au chocolat” with hot chocolate, has a charm that brings back such fond memories of Paris. It's an example of such admirable architecture!"
  • Son Bui An (IMM 11) from Vietnam: "My heart is broken! Such a sad day! Très triste"
  • Jorge Manuel Soto Olivas (FAM 17) from Mexico: "For 1 year and 3 months, I had the opportunity to live in this beautiful country, 4 months in Paris in the 16th arrondissement. I know perfectly well what Notre-Dame de Paris means to Parisians and to the French, it is for my heart and all my solidarity for France and the French people!"
  • Anindya Bose (IMM 17)  from India, chose to quote Ernest Hemingway... “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.”

All of these words bring home the fact that Notre Dame in Paris is a universal icon that resonates throughout the world.
